Connect Claude
Give Claude read access to your workspace through Hobson's MCP server.
Hobson runs a remote MCP server. Once Claude is connected, you can ask it things like "which customers are waiting longest?" or "summarise this week's refund requests" and it answers from your workspace.
Today the server is read-only and you connect with an API key.
Claude Code
- Create an API key. Viewer is enough.
- Add the server:
claude mcp add --transport http hobson https://api.hobson.support/v1/mcp \
--header "Authorization: Bearer YOUR_API_KEY"- Start Claude Code and run
/mcpto check thathobsonis connected.
Claude Code stores the header in its own config. Treat that file like any other secret.
Other MCP clients
Any client that supports remote MCP servers over streamable HTTP with a custom header works the same way:
| Setting | Value |
|---|---|
| URL | https://api.hobson.support/v1/mcp |
| Transport | Streamable HTTP |
| Header | Authorization: Bearer YOUR_API_KEY |
claude.ai and Claude Desktop
Coming soonCustom connectors on claude.ai and Claude Desktop sign in with OAuth rather than a key. We're adding Sign in with Hobson so you can pick a workspace and approve access without copying a key.
Available tools
Claude can list, search and read conversations, look up a customer's orders, search your knowledge and read reports. It can't send replies, change settings or move money. Writing tools, such as drafting and notes, come later with a confirmation step you control. Coming soon
Every role gets the same read tools, so a Viewer key is all Claude needs.

Good to know
- Customer emails are untrusted text, and Claude sees them as they were written. Don't let Claude act on what it reads with other tools without checking first. Withholding messages Hobson flags as suspicious is coming soon. Coming soon
- Every tool call is recorded in your workspace's audit log against the API key.
- When a tool fails, Claude sees a short error like
not_found: Conversation not found. - Each call counts towards your key's rate limit.
